As the temperature keeps dropping, more and more people keep on slipping on the ice, and it takes a lot more time to walk everywhere. Thankfully, hidden beneath the busy streets of Sapporo is a 520m underground space linking Susukino Station all the way to Sapporo Station!
While walking in the beautiful snowy scenery can be nice, it can be very cold! Walking through the underground keeps you warm and also is a quick way to get to places around the city. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from Susukino Station to Sapporo Station.
Not only does the underground passage make travelling easier, but there are also a lot of shops and restaurants too. A favorite place among the hotel staff is the Kinotoya shop near the exit to Tanukikoji, which makes delicious cheese tarts for reasonable prices! There are also numerous resting spots along the way with tables and chairs for relaxing, as well a free Wi-Fi service.
To get to the underground passage, it is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. If you go to Susukino Station and head downstairs into the subway station, the start of the passage is just through the thick glass doors.
Why slip and shiver on the street when you can stroll and shop underground? Take a walk along the Sapporo underground passage today!
