Hello everyone. Here in Sapporo, the coldness of winter is beginning to fade and the amount of snowfall has decreased a lot. You can finally see the surface of the ground peeping out from beneath the snow. It is just a little while longer before spring.
Today we would like to introduce a famous “dandan noodles” restaurant in Sapporo called “175°DENO Tantan Men”.
There are several restaurants in the city, but the closest one to the hotel is around a 10 minute walk.
Dandan noodles is a dish from Chinese cuisine and consists of a spicy sauce featuring vegetables, scallions, chili oil, Sichuan pepper, and minced pork served over noodles. In this particular restaurant they use fragrant Hokkaido wheat noodles and you can eat them with or without soup.
As for the Sichuan peppers used, the shop owner himself buys directly from the pepper producers in the mountains of the Sichuan province of China. There are 3 different levels of spiciness: not spicy, spicy, and tantalizingly spicy!
The Sichuan pepper has a mysterious characteristic that makes your tongue become tingly and slightly numb because of the heat level. Many people who go to the restaurant for the first time and order the 3rd level of spiciness regret it so we recommend you to start with the 2nd level.
By all means, please enjoy the authentic taste of this Chinese inspired cuisine in Sapporo!
